![]() That may or may not be okay depending on the type of player.Īlso - the opposite is true here. You'll have a deck that is nuts when you draw your 1 or 2 copies and terrible the rest of the time. You can't build around a 1-of and expect to have a consistently functional deck. For the build-around cards, they become substantially weaker or unplayable. I haven't gone through every mythic or rare because honestly I don't want to get down on Duels as a format, but off the top of my head I think the vast majority of them require being 4-ofs or 3 ofs in order to function properly or have decks built around them. Even then, they're not overwhelmingly better plays than a deck that is just curving out. For the planeswalkers, Nissa aside, they pretty much rely on you getting them out early on in order for them to be strong cards. The 'bad' cards aren't that bad, the good cards aren't that bomby. A few exceptions aside, the power level is mostly middling and it's very flat. ![]() This is true in most sets but it's even more true in Origins and the cards in Duels. ![]() This would be true if the mythics were that much more powerful than the other cards, but they're not. This game is made for new/novice Magic players, I don't think Wizards wants peoples first Magic experience to be getting steamrolled by a bunch of Mythics, when they are just playing cards that they like.
